BBC TELEVISION AT BRITISH INDOOR ARCHERY CHAMPIONSHIPS.


The British Indoor Barebow Championships, , was shot on Sunday 27th November
in three venues. In Ireland it was hosted by Ballyvally Archery Club
Banbridge while in Wales the host club was Pentref Bowmen just north of
Cardiff. In England it was shot at Appleton in Essex.The championships were
shot simultaneously at all three venues and the results transferred by ''e''
mail.The round was a FITA 18 AND THE BAREBOW RESULTS ARE ENTERED INTO THE
wORLD cHAMPIONSHIPS WHICH ARE ORGANISED THROUGH sLOVENIA.


BALLYVALLY JUNIORS DO WELL.


Ballyvally juniors did well with cubs Ronan Gribben at his first big
competition scoring an excellent 124. Andrew Snedden shot magnificently to
get gold with 454 while Adam Johnston also shot consistently to win gold
over Patrick Kerr.In the under 14's, Peter Lavery finally overcame John
Gribben after a very close competition while Mark Nesbitt practicing for the
British Junior freestyle champs at Lilleshall National Sports Centre,
Birmingham next week shot a very good 482.
In the under 16 class Lauren Johnston shot steadily to win gold over Kerry
Sneddon while Claire Hillen [compound barebow] and Richard McKee put in good
scores...Richard eventually coming in with the top boys longbow score. Amy
Lavery also part of the N.I. Team going to shoot in Lilleshall with Mark
Nesbitt shot a very good 448.
In the under 18 class, Bronagh Campbell shot an excellent first dozen score
of 92 but couldn't keep up this excellent pattern while Conor McCann also
started well in longbow but eventually fell in the last dozen! Richard
McMullen the third member of the N.I. Team from the Ballyvally club also
shot well scoring 492.
Ballyvally seniors.
An increasing number of Ballyvally seniors are now able to shoot at top
level and 11 entered for the championships. Peter Mulligan won with an
excellent 512 and Robert Nesbitt was unlucky not to make it a Ballyvally
1-2. Robert and Gerry Thompson fromm N.I/ Civil Service Club drew on 451 and
had to be separated on golds. Robert scored 6 but unfortunately Gerry scored
10 giving him the silver and Robert the bronze.Other good Ballyvally results
were achieved by Alan Convery [4th] Marc Wheeler [9th] Paul Wheeler [11TH]
Frank Kerr [12th ] and Alwyn Sneddon [15th] In the ladies section, Patricia
Mulligan shot very well to score 408 and come first.In the senior longbow
section, Ballyvally had 3 entries and the surprize of the tournament was
Wayne Carson who at one stage was on the leader board in second
place. Eventually Wayne finished in 4th place only 3 points out of a bronze
medal!! Congratulations Wayne!

BRITISH CHAMPIONS.

Overall Ballyvally came away with two British Champions. Peter Mulligan once
again won the gents title which means he has won the trophy in all four
years while Peter Lavery won the boys under 14 title.Ballyvally also came
away with two silver medals. Lauren Johnston shot extremely well to come
second and Pat Mulligan won silver inn the veteran ladies
section.Congratulations to all.


INDOOR LEAGUE RESTARTS THIS WEDNESDAY 30th /THURSDAY 1st DECEMBER.

With only two matches left in the Winter Indoor league the competition is
getting tight!The under 9 cubs section is led by Ewan Lynas and Matthew
Jameson both on 20 points with Robert Wheatley o 19 points and Rhys Morgan,
Aaron Reid and Taylor Masterson close behind on 18 The girls section is led
by Niamh Smith and Sarah Toombs both on 17 points.
The under 12 section, one of Ballyvally's biggest sections with over 100
young archers shooting in it is led by Peter Lavery [now British Champion!]
with 23 points with Levi McCauley [20] Shea Leonard [19] David Montgomery
[19] and Daniel Duffin [19] all close behind. The girls section is led by
Danielle Byrne on 19 points with Shannon Russell-Cowan just behind on
17...both are well ahead of the nearest girl rivals.
In the under 15 minor class, Mark Nesbitt leads with 21 points followed by
John Gribben and Cathal McEoin on 18 and Nathan Barry, Blair Glymond and
Michael McKee on 17.The girls section is led by Kerry Sneddon on 14 points
but very close behind are Claire Hillen and Ciara Dunleavy both on 13 and
Iona Stubber on 11.
The senior section is led by Richard McClure and Gary McNally both on 19
points followed by Johnny Jameson [18] Harry McMullen [17] and George
Nesbitt [17] Brian Johnston[16]and Paul Cowan [16]. The ladies section is
jointly led by Parricia Mulligan and Bernie Scullion both on 16 points while
Ashley Russell-Cowan and Sadie Nesbitt are on 14 and Adele Lynas and Olga
Casey on 12. In the veterans over 50 yrs section, Rita Gordon is leading by
1 point ahead of William Cochrane[12]Hazel Mulligan [12] and Noel Cochrane
[12] with Mervyn Bicker [11] just behind.


CHRISTMAS CLUB SHOOT.
The Christmas Club shoot will take place on Thursday night 17th December.
With only 100 places available on the line, 86 places are already gone so
club members who would like to shoot would need to get their entries in
ASAP. The club outdoor league will finish on Sunday 11th December with the
last match in the ''frostbite''league. Sighters at 2.00pm at
Loughbrickland.The last indoor shoot will be the double Portsmouth at the
King's Hall on Saturday 17th December. With Club Presentation night being in
February 2006, club members who won trophies should make sure they are
engraved with their name and 2003 before January!.
