
PETER MULLIGAN FOR WORLD GAMES

Peter Mulligan top
archer with Ballyvally Archery Club, Banbridge, will be
heading off to shoot in the World Games in Germany next week. Peter, who won
gold with the British team in Croatia last year at the World Field Archery
championships,is a member of the 8 strong British team which will be
competing at the highest level. All 8 archers have qualified through their
scores at the last world Championships to take part. The World Games, like
the Olympics takes place every 4 years and is for the many sports which do
not make the Olympic lineup! THIS WILL BE A UNIQUE ACHIEVEMENT FOR pETER AS
HE HAS NOW QUALIFIED FOR THE LAST 3 wORLD gAMES. H e shot in the 1997 World
Games in Finland where he finished 15th, for the 2001 World Games in Japan
where he finished 8th and now for Germany where he hopes to improve on his
last result.
BALLYVALLY ARCHERY CLUB.
Over the past few years Ballyvally has gone from strength to strength. In
2003 there were just over 200 members while in 2004 the numbers shooting on
a regular basis reached 342. This year the number shooting could well reach
over 400! The youngest archers are just 4 years of age shooting with their
parents and with over 200 juniors shooting, Ballyvally has the biggest
junior archery club in Ireland if not in the UK as well.
GUY FINISHES THE STYLES!
There are 7 styles of shooting in archery and until this month, Ballyvally
had archers shooting 6 of the styles. With new senior archer, Guy Stewart,
taking up compound limited the club now has all 7 styles represented.
