FULL LINE AT BIG BEAR

Over 100 archers from Ballyvally Archery Club filled te line at the traditional
Summer “Big Bear Shoot”. This takes place annually at the wend
of the indoor season in Banbridge Leisure centre and is shot on paper Swedish
animal faces in preparation for the Summer and Autumn shoots out in the wooded
courses the first of which was in the second week of June at Loughbrickland.
The archers shot at 20 targets in three separate details and the round was
a National Animal Round.

HAMILTONS WIN FAMILY TEAM COMPETITION;
One of the highlights of Ballyvally’s indoor shoots is the family team
competition where scores can be very tight! This year was no different with
the Hamilton team A scoring 435 to top the poll. They were composed of father
Nigel and son Dean and they just finished 5 points ahead of the McCreery’s
[Robert and Craig]. The Hamiltons scored 435 and the McCreery’s 430.
In 3rd position were the Lennons [Damien and frank] on 424 followed by the
Corbetts [Gary and Matthew] and the Quailes [Maggie and Megan] Overall after
3 indoor competitions the lead is shared between The Lennons , the McCreerys
and the Corbetts all on maximum 9 points. The wards and the Pattersons are
close behind on 8 points. With only two shoots to go [The Hallowe’en
and the Santa Shoot] it looks like being a very close finish! The junior team
competition was won by the team of Shannon Russell-Cowan, Craig McCreery and
Rory Shannon with 634 points.
EDGEWATER CARAVAN PARK SPONSORSHIP.;
The event was sponsored by Edgewater Caravan Park of Tyrella courtesy of Mr
Loren O’Neill. Ballyvally archers greatly appreciate the sponsorship
which helps fund the medals and all the prizes. Ballyvally would also like
to thank the team who came early to set up the hall and the registration team
who took all the entries and organised the scores very efficiently at the
end of the tournament. Robert Nesbitt was Chief Judge for the event assisted
by Ashley Russell-Cowan, Deidre Shannon and Lewis Gamble. Thanks are also
due to three girls who designed all the numbers [as bear’s paws] and
also ingeniously designed the knock-out targets also as BIG bear’s paws!.
